Choose the best export you actually have
Start with the highest-quality file available from your generation or editing workflow. If you have a WAV and an MP3 of the same version, use the WAV for cleanup and mastering. If the MP3 is the only surviving source, keep it; converting it to WAV changes the container but does not restore information that lossy compression removed.
Do not keep re-exporting the same file through different apps. Each unnecessary lossy export can add splashy cymbals, softened transients, or a grainy top end that resembles a generator artifact. Keep one untouched source and give every new version a clear name.
Before processing, confirm four basic facts:
- The file contains the correct song version from beginning to end.
- It does not cut off the first transient or the last reverb tail.
- The playback speed and pitch are correct.
- You can identify which file is the untouched source.
If you plan to send the song to an engineer, ask for that person’s preferred format, sample rate, bit depth, and naming convention. A random online target is less useful than the requirements of the person doing the next job.
Clean the source before you chase loudness
A Suno track can have a convincing hook and still carry metallic shimmer, brittle vocal edges, splashy hats, hiss, unstable texture, or reverb that smears words. Those defects belong near the start of the workflow because compression, bright EQ, saturation, and limiting may expose them.
Listen to the full track once without touching a control. Mark the worst verse line, the busiest chorus, a sparse section, and the ending. Then ask:
- Does a hard, metallic layer appear when the arrangement gets dense?
- Do vocal vowels sound plastic or robotic even when the performance works?
- Do consonants and cymbals become painful before the rest of the mix feels loud?
- Does the reverb decay cleanly, or does it break into grain and ringing?
- Is the top end dull, or are you reacting to one harsh band?

Leave headroom for the next stage
Headroom is working space between the signal peaks and digital full scale. It is not a quality badge and there is no magic number that makes a track releasable.
If a mastering engineer will finish the song, avoid a last-minute limiter whose only job is to make the pre-master look loud. Export a clean, unclipped file and let the engineer specify any preferred peak range. If your Suno source already arrives heavily limited, do not turn it down and assume the lost peaks have returned. Lower gain changes level; it does not undo clipping or compression.
For a self-mastered version, compare loud and quiet passes at matched listening level before choosing. The louder file often wins a quick comparison even when its transients are smaller and its artifacts are more obvious. Check the waveform and meters, but make the decision with your ears.

Check clipping, silence, and the file boundaries
A red meter during export is one sign of clipping. Also listen for brittle clicks on drum hits, crackle on vocal peaks, and distortion that appears only in the loudest chorus. Inspect suspicious peaks, then replay them at a lower monitor level. If the distortion stays in the file, reducing your speaker volume will not fix it.
Also inspect the quiet parts:
- Play the first second and confirm that the opening transient is intact.
- Listen through the last reverb tail instead of stopping at the final note.
- Check edits for clicks where audio starts or ends abruptly.
- Listen to intended silence for hiss, digital debris, or an accidental count-in.
- Confirm that no extra bounce, notification sound, or long empty section follows the song.
Do not trim every breath of space. A clean short fade can sound more deliberate than a hard cut, especially when the track ends with ambience.
Check mono before you approve the stereo version
Stereo can hide a weak center or phasey texture. Check mono before you approve the stereo version. You are not trying to make both versions identical; you are checking that the lead vocal, kick, bass, and main hook remain usable when the sides collapse.
Listen for a vocal that suddenly becomes thin, cymbals that change character, bass that loses weight, or a reverb tail that swirls unnaturally. Do not remix the song to satisfy every cheap speaker. Look for repeated evidence. If the same consonant hurts on headphones, monitors, and the car, it deserves attention. If a tiny phone lacks sub-bass, that may be the phone rather than a failed release.
Run one quiet check as well. At low volume, the vocal and hook should still make sense. Then stop for a few minutes and return. Ear fatigue makes harsh highs feel normal and can push you toward a dull master.
Metadata is a separate delivery task
Metadata does not repair the audio, but a wrong title or credit can still derail a release. Prepare the exact artist name, track title, version label, songwriter and contributor credits, explicit-content status, release date, artwork, and any identifiers requested by your distributor.
Use one spelling everywhere. Check featured artists and collaborators before submission. Save the final audio, artwork, text, and supporting documents together so the release can be reconstructed later.
Rules and required fields can change, so use the current documentation of your chosen distributor when you submit. Sunofix does not review those fields and does not decide whether your rights are sufficient.

The process looks longer than a one-click promise because it covers several jobs. In practice, a saved checklist is quicker than discovering a clipped opening or wrong version after submission.
